World War II
WWII POW on Dealing with Hunger

Veteran Jim Samson was in a German POW camp during World War II. He describes how all the fellow prisoners would always talk about something to eat because they were so hungry. Samson describes a time when his friend started reminiscing aloud about the flavors in his uncle’s ice cream parlor: “We were sitting there licking our chops and tasting everything he had said.”
