Libyan Civil War
The Libyan-Egyptian Border in 2011

People fleeing from Libya to Egypt during 2011′s Libyan Civil War share their escape stories. One Libyan laborer says he saw “death with [his] own eyes” in Benghazi and feels lucky to have gotten out of the violent conflict area. The Egyptian-Libyan border is full of people moving work tools, mattresses and even refrigerators across the border. Displaced Sudanese laborers tell stories about being camped out at the border for days and not being granted permission to enter the country. They say of the situation: “Protests have taken place in Sudan supporting the Libyans and may God grant them victory.”
