Iyengar Yoga as a Form of Healing & Art

Stephanie Quirk began “Iyengar Yoga,” a style of yoga popularized by the legendary yoga teacher B. K. S. Iyengar, in 1987 after accidents that left her physically disabled. She left Australia and went to Pune, India to learn from Iyengar–valuing his approach to yoga as an art and a life philosophy. She says of yoga’s impact on her life: “Before I came to yoga, the unimportant things were too important in my life.” Iyengar is well-known for bringing yoga from India to the West, and around the world. He passed away on August 20, 2014 at the age of 95.
