First Female Boston Marathon Runner on Getting Stopped by Officials

Kathrine Switzer remembers staff at the 1967 Boston Marathon trying to remove her from the race for being a woman and describes why being a female athlete in the 60s was looked down on. Switzer was the first woman to run in the Boston Marathon and by 1972 women were officially allowed to enter the competition.
