The Head-Butt Heard Around the World

Zinedine Zidane, retired soccer legend and member of France’s World Cup team, explains in an interview why he head-butted Marco Materazzi, a retired member of Italy’s World Cup team, in the FIFA World Cup finals held in Germany on July 9, 2006. Zidane describes the harsh words that Materazzi provoked him with about his mom and sister. He also apologizes to the public and states that this action was inevitable after the “hard” words since he is only human.
