Car Talk is an award-winning radio talk show that was was produced from 1977 until October of 2012. The show was broadcast on NPR stations and its hosts, brothers Tom and Ray Magliozzi, tackled the subject of automobiles and auto repair with humor. In this video, producers of Car Talk, employees of WBUR and Ray and Tom themselves talk about how the show got its start. Eric Nuzum, VP of Programming at NPR, remembers Car Talk’s move to national syndication: “Here come these two guys from Boston with these accents and these laughs and a phone line talking to people… changed everything. And, in a sense, made everything that followed them possible.”
Older brother Tom Magliozzi passed away on November 3, 2014.
