Spencer Adkins, longest serving on-air personality on WOWK TV, gives a visual explanation on how the explosion at the Upper Big Branch Mine in West Virginia happened. His first person account uses a bottle of Coca Cola to visually show what exactly happened in the coal mine and how an increased level of Methane is possible. The Upper Big Branch Mine disaster occurred on April 5, 2010 roughly 1,000 feet (300 m) underground and killed twenty-nine of the thirty-one miners who were on site that day.
