Paul Krassner Remembers When Elvis Was Stoned At the White House

Comedian Paul Krassner remembers watching Elvis Presley on the Ed Sullivan show and recalls the day Elvis visited President Nixon at the White House while stoned. Presley reportedly wanted a badge from the federal Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. Krassner comments on the Ed Sullivan show’s unnecessary censorship of Elvis’ hips and also comments on the attempts to land Presley on a USPS stamp. Elvis was born on January 8, 1935 and went onto become the “King of Rock and Roll” before his death on August 16, 1977 at the age of 42.
