Lou Nanne describes his role in helping his former teammate Herb Brooks start his career as a coach at the University of Minnesota and then, years later, helping Brooks get the job leading the Olympic team. He also describes the difference between Brooks as a player and as a coach: “Herbie was a guy that enjoyed life as a player…His personality completely changed when he became a coach. He was a no-nonsense type of guy.” He also describes the type of coach that Brooks was: focused, passionate, and demanding.
