Gloria Steinem: ‘Reaction to the Women’s Movement Was Ridicule’

Feminist Gloria Steinem describes why she was motivated to participate in the women's rights movement as a journalist and remembers how people reacted to Ms. Magazine, the the first magazine dedicated to women's issues. Steinem, born on March 25, 1934, also comments on how people reacted to the movement and discusses the change she is proud of creating in the world: "In my heart, I think the only alternative to being a feminist is being a masochist."
