The Ghost Word Of Webster’s International Dictionary

On February 28, 1939, the erroneous word “dord” was discovered in the second edition of the Webster’s New International Dictionary. In this video listen to Emily Brewster, an associate editor at Webster’s, tell the story of how “dord” made it into the second edition. The video also shows the original index card on which the mistake was made.
