Pablo Escobar was a Colombian drug lord and cocaine trafficker who terrorized Colombia for decades. He is considered to be the wealthiest criminal in history. On December 2, 1993, Escobar was located and killed after over a year on the run. In this video, US and Colombian officials involved in working to find Escobar discuss the final phase of their efforts. Hugo Martinez Junior, a member of the search block, recalls: “He started talking again, and I followed the signal to the point where the equipment showed me the exact location he was in. I turned around and passed by the front again. And with the radio in my hand, I put my hand out the window and started pointing at the window in the second floor. At the same time that I was pointing, I observed a silhouette of Pablo Escobar with a phone in his hand. I was listening and he looked thorough the window. We saw each other.”
