Wendy Davis
Davis’s Final Filibuster Moments

The final moments of Wendy Davis’s filibuster in the Senate Chambers show Davis’s efforts to support the views of hundreds of women. Wendy Davis is an American lawyer and Democratic politician from Fort Worth, Texas. She represents District 10 in the Texas Senate. On June 25, 2013, Davis began a filibuster to block the Senate Bill 5, “the bill would ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, require abortion clinics to meet the same standards that hospital-style surgical centers do, and mandate that a doctor who performs abortions have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital”.
