World War II veteran Cecil Harris recalls his experience as a copilot for the 457th Bombardment Group. Harris discusses his “milk runs” and “slices of hell” that he flew while in Europe. World War II began in 1939, but the US did not enter the war until December 1941. The 457th Bomb Group was activated on July 1, 1943 and inactivated August 18, 1945.

World War II (WWII or WW2), also known as the Second World War, was a global war.
