Ricardo Bastos recalls his two tours in Iraq as an Army Medic and explains how a troubled high school period was his motivation to join the military. Bastos remembers his time in basic training, discusses the conditions of his life in Iraq and explains what living in the middle of warfare was like. On December 18, 2011 the US pulled most of their troops out of Iraq, with the rest leaving by the end of the month. The Iraq War officially ended on December 15, 2011.
