On December 17, 2014, United States President Barack Obama announced a new chapter of US-Cuba relations, with the restoration of diplomatic ties between the two nations. In this video, Jose Sanchez Gronlier expresses his thoughts on President Obama’s announcement, saying: “This is a sad day for the United States and for Cuba and the Cuban people because the United States has given in to a hostage-taking, which was an act of state terrorism by the Castro dictatorship – has rewarded, amply rewarded, the dictatorship with all sorts of concessions and that will enable the Castro dictatorship to consolidate itself in power and to continue oppressing the Cuban people for far longer than it would.”
