Ottis Woodard on the Last Hours of MLK’s Life

Ottis Woodard recounts his memories of the last day Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke to the public on April 3, 1968 and describes the assassination that happened on April 4th at the Lorraine Motel. King’s “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” speech is famous for addressing the possibility of his own untimely death in the last line, foreshadowing his assassination the next day.
