Daniel Pearl was a journalist with both American and Israeli citizenship who was kidnapped by Pakistani militants on January 23, 2002, and later murdered by Al-Qaeda. At the time of his kidnapping, Pearl was working as the South Asia Bureau Chief of The Wall Street Journal and was based in Mumbai, India. He had travelled to Pakistan to investigate links between Richard Reid and Al-Qaeda.
