Jack Abramoff is a former American lobbyist who was the center of a corruption investigation that led to his conviction. In addition to Abramoff, 21 other people either plead guilty or were found guilty of corruption. Abramoff worked as the top lobbyist for the firm Preston Gates & Ellis from 1994 to 2001, and then for Greenberg Traurig from 2001 until 2004. Abramoff plead guilty in a lobbying scandal involving SunCruz Casinos in January 2006 and was sentenced to six years in federal prison. He served 43 months and was released on December 3, 2010.
