Fellow Passengers Speak About The Shoe Bomber

On December 22, 2001, Richard Reid – otherwise known as the Shoe Bomber- attempted to detonate his explosive-packed shoes whole aboard an American Airlines flight from Paris to Miami. He was subdued by fellow passengers on the plane, which was diverted to Boston, Massachusetts, where it landed safely. Reid was later sentenced to three life terms plus 110 years in prison without parole. In this video, fellow passengers recall what happened on the flight. One passenger recalls: “The stewardess at one point said ‘Pass belts forward’ and people sort of from the back of the cabin who had really seen what had happened were taking off belts and all passing them forward and they were tying up the… you know, they were tying him up with these belts.”
