On January 26, 1985, Elizabeth Taylor received the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony that year. The Cecil B. DeMille Award, first presented in 1952, is an honorary award given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for "outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment. Taylor quips in her speech: "I never dreamed ever that I would be standing here one day holding this award myself…and to be given it by the press! That's really incredible!"
