American Dave Silk shares his first-person account of playing for Olympic coach Herb Brooks in the NHL while Alexei Kasatonov describes the changes that the Soviet team underwent after the defeat. The two were on opposite sides on February 22, 1980, for the ice for the Miracle on Ice at the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid. Silk played for the New York Rangers and three other teams in the NHL. Kasatonov won gold medals as part of the Soviet team in 1984 and 1988 before embarking on an NHL career in 1989, the first year the Soviet Union allowed its citizens to play professionally in America.
