On January 15, 2009, US Airways Flight 1549 struck a flock of geese shortly after take off from New York’s LaGuardia Airport. The geese caused the plane to lose engine power, and Captain Sully Sullenberger had to act quickly, safely maneuvering the plane into the Hudson River, setting it down without any loss of life.
