Eileen Collins is a retired NASA astronaut and retired United States Air Force colonel who became the first female pilot and first female commander of a Space Shuttle. On February 3, 1995, Collins piloted the space shuttle Discovery from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida as part of mission STS-63. Collins later served as commander of mission STS-93 in July 1999 and mission STS-114 in July of 2005. In this video, Collins talks about her childhood dream of being a pilot and how she worked to achieve that dream, as well as what it meant to be the first female shuttle pilot.
