“Just like Al Qaeda, they are very very destructive”. In 2012, Ikenna Nzeribe was the sole survivor of a Boko Haram massacre at a church in his hometown of Mubi, Nigeria. Boko Haram is a militant Islamist group that operates out of northeast Nigeria, and is estimated to have killed more than 5,000 people between 2009 and 2014. When asked if people should fear Boko Haram, Nzeribe says of its leader, Abubakar Shekau, “Everything he says he will do, he does them”.
