In this NBC interview with Ann Curry, President Hassan Rouhani of Iran reflects on the policies of his predecessor, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. During his two-term presidency, Ahmadinejad shocked and scared some western audiences when he made claims that the Holocaust was a myth. President Rouhani addresses Ahmadinejad’s previous claims by stating that he himself is not a historian and therefore does not have a place to comment on the subject. Curry also asked President Rouhani about Ahmadinejad’s beliefs about “wiping Israel off the map.” Rouhani responded to this formerly aggressive stance on foreign policy by stating that Iran seeks peace and friendship with neighboring countries.
