See footage of the 1944 eruption of Mount Vesuvius and watch how the townspeople of San Sebastiano, Italy react to being in the lava's path of destruction in this narrated newsreel. From March 18th to the 23rd, Vesuvius spewed ash and lava around the Italian countryside and eventually destroyed San Sebastiano as well as the towns of Massa di Somma, Ottaviano, and part of San Giorgio a Cremano.
