Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) was designed to explore Mars from orbit. It was launched on August 12, 2005, and reached Martian orbit on March 10, 2006. The spacecraft was built by Lockheed Martin, and the mission is managed by the California Institute of Technology. Fischer began competing in the United States Chess Championship at age 14, and at age 15 he became the youngest grandmaster of his time. In 1972, Fischer defeated Boris Spassky of the USSR to claim the title of World Chess Champion. On March 8, 1971, Joe Frazier and Mohammed Ali, both undefeated at the time, squared off in “The Fight of the Century” at Madison Square Garden in New York City. At the time, both Frazier and Ali had claims to the title of World Heavyweight Champion. Ali (31-0) had won the title from Sonny Liston in 1964, but was stripped of the title by boxing authorities after he refused induction into the armed forces in 1967. With Ali suspended from boxing, Frazier (26-0) defeated both Buster Mathis and Jimmy Ellis for championship belts. The fight on March 8th lasted 15 rounds, with the judges giving the victory to Joe Frazier and handing Mohammed Ali his first loss. In this video, see how the fight came about.

On March 7, 1965, a group of around 600 marchers left Selma, Alabama, on a march to Alabama’s capital, Montgomery, as part of the Selma Voting Rights Movement. Shortly after leaving Selma, the unarmed marchers were attacked on the Edmund Pettus Bridge by state troopers with tear gas and billy clubs. The day became known as “Bloody Sunday”. Mildred Gillars was an American actress who was employed by the Third Reich in Nazi Germany to broadcast propaganda during World War II. Along with Rita Zucca, Gillars was nicknamed “Axis Sally”. Gillars was captured in Berlin following the end of the war, and was convicted of treason in the United States and sentenced to prison on March 8, 1949.
