Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) was designed to explore Mars from orbit. It was launched on August 12, 2005, and reached Martian orbit on March 10, 2006. The spacecraft was built by Lockheed Martin, and the mission is managed by the California Institute of Technology. In this video, some of the flight engineers working on the project discuss what will happen once the MRO reaches Martian orbit.

Dr. Alan Binder discusses the failures of the Mars Observer, as well as other NASA projects like the Hubble Space Telescope and the Mars Climate Orbiter, which had many technical issues. Dr. Binder is the founder and Director of the Lunar Research Institute (LRI) and founder and CEO of Lunar Exploration Inc. (LEI). He is working to map the surface of the Moon for future commercial use.
