Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Nick Ut describes how he captured the famous picture, “Napalm Girl,” which he took on June 8, 1972 of the naked 9-year-old Vietnamese girl running down the road–burned by napalm during the Vietnam War. Ut, and another British journalists who got the horrific scene on film, traveled back to the Trảng Bàng District 40 years later to discuss the events of that day and what they did to help the girl who was suffering from her life-threatening burns. Ut also explains how he was inspired to take this controversial photograph and his hopes that it could help end the Vietnam War and shed light on “the innocent victims” that were impacted by the conflict.
