Actor and director John Huston presents Orson Welles an honorary Oscar in 1971 at the 43rd Academy Awards. Welles had said, in the past, that he only earned “half an Oscar” in his lifetime, and that was for co-authoring the script for Citizen Kane. The Academy decided to give him, as Huston says, “one of his own.” Welles was filming in Europe and so he accepted the award via film.
